Well none of this is news now, but I am trying to get back in the habit of writing these things up.
I was fortunate enough to be invited to this recent event; the tasting of Diego’s annual ‘best of the best’ – from an expected Lagavulin and Port Ellen, to a less expected Cambus 40yo.
With retail prices ranging from under £100 to close to £2,500, some of this stuff is very special indeed, and this was an opportunity not to be turned down.
With fancy invite in hand, I headed off to 1 Marylebone Road, London to see what the fuss was about.

A little known distillery to me, although I pass within a gnat’s whisker of it each time I go to Islay. The Loch Lomond Group covers Inchmurrin, Glen Scotia and of course, Loch Lomond.
Micheal Henry, Master Blender, took us through 8 drams on the evening with the usual, well natured crowd of The Wright Wine Co.
Another year, another trip to Islay and how lucky with the weather was I?
Due to this being a family holiday, there’s no Feis visits, but still a distillery or two gets a look in.
This time round, the usual trip to Ardbeg was made, as was a tasting at Laphroaig.
