Another year, another trip to Islay and how lucky with the weather was I?
Due to this being a family holiday, there’s no Feis visits, but still a distillery or two gets a look in.
This time round, the usual trip to Ardbeg was made, as was a tasting at Laphroaig.
I had a great time in Islay this year – my bi-annual (?) visit with friends and family.
One of the things we tried to achieve was filming tasting notes (for a sample club) outside every distillery. Well, we didn’t get around them all (this time) but it was great fun doing it.
Here’s a taster of some we did. I was behind the camera, the man in the front is Julian from The Wright Wine and Whisky Company. Enjoy.

I, alongside several thousand other whisky buyers, now have hands on Ardbog. Ardbeg’s latest ‘limited’ release. It was bottled to celebrate Ardbog Day 2013, and celebrate their “peaty roots in the marshy wetlands of Islay; where Ardbeg’s smoky sweetness has been intriguingly interwoven with salty, savoury whiskies which have slumbered undisturbed in rare ex-Manzanilla sherry casks, all for at least ten long years”.
All very good of course, and packaged and promoted to the usual high-styandards you’d expect of a popular distillery owned by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy..
